Inmedicine,hemoglobinuriais a condition in which the hemoglobinis found in abnormally high concentrations in theurine. This condition is often associated withhemolytic anemia, in whichred blood cells(RBCs) are destroyed, thereby increasing levels of freeplasmahemoglobin. Excess hemoglobin is filtered by thekidneys, which excrete it into the urine, giving urine a purple color. |
